COVID-19 Updates
GCLC remains open and continues to help low-income residents of Greater Chicago with their legal needs during this public health emergency. Our physical office has reopened at 17 North State Street, Suite 1710, but some Clinic attorneys are still working remotely.
GCLC has adopted the following measures to keep our staff and clients safe while continuing to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic:
Our 24-hour intake line is available for applicants to leave voicemail messages. Please provide a safe number and good time to reach you between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a member of our staff will call you back.
For certain programs, you can also apply online.
If you are experiencing domestic violence and need immediate assistance, please call the Illinois Department of Human Services Domestic Violence Helpline at 877.863.6338. They are available 24/7 to provide safety planning, information, and referrals to domestic violence survivors. All services are free and confidential.
You can get up-to-date information about the Cook County Courts at www.cookcountycourt.org. You can also get up-to-date information about legal services during the pandemic from Illinois Legal Aid Online.
We are monitoring the safety measures recommended by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Public Health and are assessing our clients’ needs on an ongoing basis. We will continue to provide updates here as we work to provide better access to the court system during this challenging time.
