Support Our Staff

Sponsorships of this level support GCLC attorney and Paralegal salaries — expanding the Clinic’s capacity to help low-income Chicagoans.

Bridge the Funding Gap

Sponsorships of this level support and build capacity for GCLC programs and practice areas by funding program expenses not covered by existing grants. The Clinic partners with many different funding organizations to provide services at no cost to low-income Chicagoans. Grants constitute a significant percentage of the Clinic’s annual budget. But grants don’t cover every program expense. This results in a funding gap—program expenses that must be met through other means.

Attorney Development

Sponsorships of this level support ongoing expenses related to continuing legal edicuation and professional development for Clinic attorneys.

Pay Trial Costs

Sponsorships of this level defray fees related to casework, including trial costs. Many, but not all, GCLC clients qualify for certain types of fee waivers. For those that don’t qualify, and for expenses that don’t have the option of a waiver, the miscellaneous costs related to litigation are a barrier for low-income people. In such cases, GCLC covers the costs. Sponsorships of this type make realizing the Clinic’s mission and vision possible in an important, if unheralded, way.
